About the Diocletian’s Legion
Inspired by the IV Legio Flavia Felix, we bring Ancient Rome back to life through reenactments, performances, and education. With every march, battle formation, and gladiatorial display, we strive to make history a living experience for all.
About Your Legion
Foundation
Diocletian’s Legion was founded in 2013 with the mission of preserving and promoting ancient Roman culture in Croatia and beyond. Through our work, we keep alive the grandeur and traditions of Rome, transforming history into a living experience. We are a student-led association of academics and enthusiasts dedicated to Roman heritage, recognized as one of Europe’s leading groups reviving the legacy of Ancient Rome.
Our Goal
We took up the mission to preserve and promote ancient Roman culture in Croatia and beyond. Through our work, we keep alive the grandeur and traditions of Rome, transforming history into a living experience.
The Legion
When our legion marches, the past comes alive. Dressed in authentic replicas of Roman helmets, shields (scutum), and swords (gladius), our members march in precise formations under the command of their centurion. From disciplined columns and ranks to the famed testudo (“tortoise”) formation, every movement is a testament to Roman military excellence.
Each display is both a performance and a lesson — accompanied by explanations of historical context and battlefield strategy. This attention to detail and historical accuracy ensures that every demonstration is as educational as it is impressive.
Gladiators
Our gladiators are passionate athletes devoted to the revival of ancient combat arts. Through regular training and choreographed displays, they demonstrate the discipline, strength, and spectacle of gladiatorial combat, captivating audiences while keeping this legendary tradition alive.
