Festival Apulum 2017 in Alba Iulia (Romania) – Retrospective
In the end of April, 2017 our organisation participated in event that puts great emphasis on Roman culture. takes place annually around the 1st of May and gathers over 300 actors – Roman legionnaires, Dacian tribes, civilians, dancers, rafters etc. For this event we gathered a team of 8 men representing one Contubernium including Centurion and a Signifer. It was our second year that we participated in the event and hopefully we will keep visiting Alba Iulia for years to come.
Our trip began on Thursday, 27th of April early in the morning. We rented a minivan and embarked upon a great adventure. Our first stop was Croatia’s capitol, Zagreb where we had to pick up Duje, one of our legionnaires. Next stop was city of Čakovec on the Hungarian boarder.
After a short break over coffee an cake we crossed the boarder into Hungary. We drove through Hungary and entered Romania late at night. We made a snack stop in Timișoara, Romanian third city. Around 2 AM we finally reached our destination – Alba Iulia. The next day the event begin, but only in the afternoon so we had some time to visit beautiful Alba Iulia.
To be continued…
